Applications beyond polymers
Zamak die casting and special projects for light alloys
Know-how in manifolds, nozzles, thermal management and mold integration can also be applied to metal hot runner projects, but with engineering requirements that are substantially more demanding than in plastics injection molding.
For Zamak die casting, documented industrial applications already exist based on direct gating and substantial reduction of the solidified runner system. For aluminum, however, higher temperatures and pressures, contact materials, sealing requirements and the interface with cold-chamber die-casting machines require dedicated engineering and project-by-project feasibility validation.
GDS and HATSYS can support hot runner system engineering, the possible retrofit of an existing mold and, when required, the development of a complete integrated mold.
