Specialized support to improve results, schedules, and working methods
Mold polishing is not merely a final operation: it is a technical process that requires the proper evaluation of the material, previous machining phases, required finish, and the tools to be used at each step.
GDS Abrasivi offers a consulting and training service supported by one of Italy’s most experienced professionals in plastic injection mold polishing, backed by extensive hands-on workshop experience.
The goal is to transfer real operational skills, helping operators choose the most effective work cycle and correctly use manual tools, pneumatic systems, micromotors, ultrasonic devices, abrasives, and lapping products.
What we can do for your company
Consulting, training, and operational coaching
Process analysis
Evaluation of the mold, metal, treatments, surface condition, and desired result. Identification of critical issues and root causes of defects or reworking.
Work cycle definition
Selection of the operational sequence, tools, abrasives, pastes, and parameters, from initial preparation to lapping and final polishing.
Operator training
Theoretical and practical pathways for new recruits and experienced technicians, tailored to participant skill levels, available equipment, and company production needs.
Measurable results
From machined surface to mirror polishing
The pathway is designed to make operators autonomous in evaluating necessary actions and selecting the most suitable tools to achieve the desired finish.
- Reduction of errors, defects, and reworking.
- Greater uniformity and result repeatability.
- More conscious use of tools, abrasives, and diamond pastes.
- Optimization of timelines and operational sequences.
- Standardization of work methods within the department.
Training pathways
Three levels, from basic methodology to advanced techniques
Contents can be organized into independent modules or a complete pathway. Programs and duration are customized based on participant background and agreed company goals.
Basic – Polishing Fundamentals
Initial mold evaluation, understanding of metals and previous treatments, setting up processing steps, and introduction to manual, pneumatic, and flexible shaft tools.
Intermediate – Micromotors and Lapping Preparation
Setting up micromotor control units, selection and use of rotary tools, application of stones, abrasive mixtures, and pastes, and correct surface preparation for lapping phases.
Advanced – Ultrasonics and Lapping Techniques
Use of ultrasonic systems and related processes, advanced lapping techniques with felts, brushes, and diamond pastes, and cycle refinement up to superfinishing.
Target audience
Training suited for both new operators and professionals
The basic module requires no prior experience. Intermediate and advanced levels are recommended for those already familiar with polishing phases who wish to refine specific techniques or deepen their use of new technologies.
Customized consulting
Starting from a real issue or production goal
Consulting can be structured around a specific mold, surface, or critical issue. Analysis verifies the applied cycle, identifies inefficient steps, and defines a safer, more repeatable procedure.
Each intervention is agreed upon with the client and can be tailored to operator skills, materials processed, and equipment already present in the company.
Frequently asked questions
Information about courses and consulting
Is prior experience in polishing required?
No. The basic module is also designed for new operators and requires no prior experience. Subsequent modules are intended for those who already possess operational knowledge of the process.
Can the content be customized?
Yes. Modules, topics, and depth of analysis can be tailored to participant background, processed molds, and company goals.
Is it possible to request consulting on a specific case?
Yes. It is possible to start from a specific mold, required finish, or concrete issue to analyze the cycle and identify the most effective tools and steps.
